Chemical Engineering

CProfessional training for a multidisciplinary perspective, enabling them to work in different sectors such as petrochemical industries, biofuel production, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and energy industries, among others.

Training aimed at developing the skills to work in the development of more efficient processes, employing new technologies, especially in the use of computational tools that allow the design of industrial equipment and plants.

A program that encourages strong innovative and entrepreneurial performance, always keeping in mind the alignment with the principles of sustainable development. The course offers the possibility of participating in the student chapter of the AiChe – American Institute of Chemical Engineers at PUC-Rio and in national and international competitions.

A Chemical Engineering professional is responsible for the design, development, and operation of industrial processes where the most important step involves chemical transformations of various materials (solids, liquids, and/or gases), both organic and inorganic in nature, combining knowledge of natural sciences (chemistry and physics) with engineering. Their work can also contribute to minimizing environmental impact, from the use of renewable raw materials to the proper treatment of effluents and waste produced.

The functions of a Chemical Engineer meet the needs of the chemical, petroleum, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries. Another field of work is related to environmental preservation, in projects for the treatment and recycling of urban and industrial waste and effluents.
