The Advanced Process Applications Group (GAAP) transforms science into solutions and innovation for industry, working in the areas of Machine Learning, phenomenological and hybrid modeling, process optimization, life cycle analysis, techno-economic evaluation of processes, and software development.

Research focus: Construction of computational tools and development of databases for strongly non-ideal systems from the application of group contribution models and predictive methods for chemical activity coefficients with a view to describing equilibrium data involving fluid phases (liquid-vapor equilibrium and liquid-liquid equilibrium), with application in the design of equipment aimed at typical purification operations used in industry such as distillation columns, absorption towers and solvent extraction units.
